It seems Suh is facing some very series anger issues during his time on the field. Suh has become known for playing dirty and has been recently called one of the dirtiest people in the National Football League. According to the www.businessinsider.com Suh is the dirtiest player in the NFL. They’ve even listed the top 10 reasons why Suh is rated the dirtiest player in the NFL. Recently Suh was thrown out the game and suspended for the next two games for slamming and kicking an offensive lineman who plays for the Green Bay Packers. While Suh was also fined earlier this season for tackling Andy Dalton by the neck and punching a New England Patriots lineman. While his latest headline doesn’t even involve his on the field actions. Suh is accused of lying about a car accident he was involved in Saturday, <date day="3" ls="trans" month="12" w:st="on" year="2011">December 3, 2011</date>. Suh is accused of lying to police by saying that no one suffered any injuries according to yahoo sport. Com. Actions like these taken by Suh can affect his public image in a tremendous way. Ndamukong Suh's public relations advisors can aim him into a positive direction by improving him as a man first. They can tend to his anger issues first by sending him to anger management. Anger management can help Ndamukong control himself on the field even after a dirty play was made on him. While Suh has stated that his actions are not intentional. According to crainsdetroit.com Suh’s response on whether he intentionally stepped on another player: "Not by any means. I understand in this world because of the type of player and type of person I am, all eyes are on me. So why would I do something to jeopardize myself and jeopardize my team first and foremost. I would also make Ndamukong become a sports advocate to speak out against player’s who play the game in a displeasing fashion. Ndamukong Suh public image can still survive in a positive way only if he seeks out anger management.

A Day Without Social Media

I spent an entire day without social media on November 1, 2011. While being a product of Generation X this was very hard to do. I can honestly say that this was one of the hardest and longest days of my life. At first I could function during the early part of the day without my phone. As the day went on it became harder and harder to function. I always check my phone every 5 to 10 minute everyday. I wasn’t able to access my sms, phone calls, face book, or my twitter accounts. Soon I realized I couldn’t use my computer either or watch ESPN this is when I realized life would suck without social media. I use my phone for everything e-mails, sports updates, weather, news, and entertainment. Everything seemed to vanish with my ties to the world of social media. I also felt lost not as if I didn’t know where I was going but as if everything was moving around me and I couldn’t catch up. I felt very clueless as to what was the latest trending topic on twitter, or messages I've received via e-mail, or friend requests on face book. I also felt isolated from my friends because I couldn’t have instant contact with them. Instead I had to hope I seen them walking around campus. While interviewing a fellow student and classmate of mines Nathifa Square she believes, “the world wouldn’t be able to revolve around at all today due to the use of social media these days”. There are many advantages of having social media. While social networks help companies market and promote for products they are selling. While siliconcloud.com states this about social media, “It fosters an ethos of community, sharing and connecting while making all sorts of relationships, particularly business relationship more transparent”. There are also disadvantages in the world of social media. While thoughtpick.com believes, “The wrong online brand strategy could put you at a viral social disadvantage and may even damage your reputation, when you make a mistake offline, a few will know but when you make a mistake in front of hundreds or thousands of you online audience, most of them will know”! The world of social media can be tricky but what’s life without it.

Joshua Thomas

Work Cited

Nathifa Square, Freshmen, University of Alabama

www.siliconcloud.com

www.thoughtpick.com

Mickey Mouse Monopoly

The Mickey Mouse Monopoly was an eye opening experience for me as I watched the video and read up on it. While Disney really surprised me with the stereotypes they display in there films that are mainly directed towards youth crowds. Millions of children watch the Disney channels each and everyday these children all come from different backgrounds and cultures. Parents are supposed to feel safe when there children are watching the Disney but after doing my research they shouldn’t. During a sit down conversation with Teijada Wilkins she believes Disney’s animated cartoon “The Proud Family” is stereotypical to African-American families. While I feel the exact same way about this particular cartoon. The Proud Family displays an African-American family with Hispanic neighbors, a grandmother that lives with the family and loud obnoxious individual’s bullies that roam the street picking on smaller children. I believe this shouldn’t be tolerated on television channels today especially those targeted at our youth on a daily basis. While this is a problem that needs to be looked into because this is not only harmful to our youth but Disney is targeting race and ethnicity as well as genders. This can lead to a problem that can cause national attention. After watching the movie on the Mickey Mouse Monopoly there was a women being interviewed who made a valid point. She states “Disney is looked upon as a subliminal message and it’s absorbed by our young people’s minds as entertainment”. How can you call racism and stereotyping entertainment to children and make billions off of it? Disney likes to hide the messages there sending through different characters and there meaning in movies and television shows. Also during my reading of Mickey Mouse Monopoly PDF file it states “The problem is that, as a private corporation, this power is concentrated in the hands of a few who are neither elected nor accountable to most of those affected by that power”. I believe if no one stands up to Disney these issues will still occur for many years to come.

Joshua Thomas

Work Cited

Mickey Mouse Monopoly PDF File

www.youtube.com/mickeymousemonopoly

Interview. Everyone doesn’t read the newspaper on a daily basis some prefer to read magazines issue for issue. Magazines and newspapers are great forms of communications throughout the world but the question still remains," how are they similar"? Both magazines and newspapers talk about issues such as political, sports, science, entertainment, and weather. They both serve the public in tremendous ways with updated information. Magazines and newspapers are often referred to as street newspapers throughout the homeless community. While "Wikipedia" states, "Street newspapers (or street papers) are newspapers or magazines sold by homeless or poor individuals and produced mainly to support these populations"(Wikipedia"). Street papers allow homeless individual to have a potential employment opportunity. Magazines and newspapers often differ in many ways. Newspapers use excellent grammar and punctuation, while magazines use more relaxed grammar and punctuation. Newspapers are also short and informative and straight to the point. Magazines are longer and more detailed than newspapers. Cording to stumblerz.com, "statistics claim that readers read only 1/3rd of the content of the newspapers but most of the magazines focusing on specialized areas that are evergreen topics are retained, reread and placed in lobbies irrespective of their publishing period"(stumblerz.com). Magazines also have more creativity than newspapers whether it’s in the layout or ad placement. During an interview with Mecca Scarver she explains how newspapers talk about real world events, while magazines target the world of entertainment. She later states newspapers news are more in depth about events that occur nation, state, and city wide. Magazines are on more of a national scale than newspapers. I would prefer to work for a magazine rather than a newspaper. Magazines target topics that people are interested in and newspapers target a vast variety of everything. I also believe the magazine industry will offer more opportunities of networking with individuals of higher power than newspapers would.
